The region that is presently Shawnee, Kansas is full with historical significance and illustrations of typical American Midwestern living. Its origins go back to the time of the Osage tribal people.
Shawnee developed into a comfortable, multifaceted growth suburb in the second half of the 20th century, sparked by the Hocker Interurban Line and Kansas State Highway 10 before World War II. Shawnee has continued to offer great places to live and wonderful organizations to foster community life and involvement.
